Unlike any other species on earth, human beings react on more than simply instinct and are equipped with what I like to refer to as “The Power”; the unequivocal power of choice that steers the direction of most people during the course of a lifetime. And this power is ours to own and utilise in either a positive or negative way. It is the power to choose the life we want.
When we lose sight of the real purpose of this power and continuously choose a path of negativity in life’s situations, can we blame the universe or perhaps the creator for the misfortune that haunts as a result? The eventual outcome of episodes in most people’s lives is the direct result of the choices we make – nothing more and nothing less.
Once upon a time a daughter complained to her father that her life was miserable and that she didn’t know how she was going to make it. She was tired of fighting and struggling all the time. It seemed just as one problem was solved, another one soon followed.
Everyone has a 'toolbox' of experience, ideas and possible solutions which they use to solve problems. When faced with a problem they go to their store of ideas, which they trust, and take out the 'tools' needed to solve the problem.
A way of illustrating this process is by likening this to an automatic bakery. The problem goes in one side, is processed, and comes out resolved on the other side. Thinking outside of the box requires the person to put their old box of ideas to one side and open their mind to find creative solutions.
